More than 1,000 people have cast their votes in Golden Springs, and four or five other precincts are reporting higher than expected turnout, according to Calhoun County Chief Deputy Matthew Wade.
Wade and other deputies will be stopping at polling places sporadically through the day to make sure all is going well.
So far no one has reported any problems, but most precincts have reported large turnouts. Wade said a deputy reported seeing about 50 people waiting in the rain for a precinct in Jacksonville to open before 7 a.m. this morning.
